Political Economy of Covid-19 Vaccines

The article, "Political Economy of Covid-19 Vaccines" (5 March 2021) by Jayati Ghosh is brilliant, incisive, and well-researched. I wonder as to what prevented India from making direct deals with vaccine companies like many developing countries did in 2020 itself.

I feel depressed that I am reminded again of Thucydides who once said: “Strong will do what they wish and weak shall do what they must”.

The pandemic exposed our weaknesses on multiple fronts again. Hope the governments and industry realise that it is high time to invest in human resources and research rather than in hubris.

Please keep publishing such thought-provoking  articles.
